Description: Performance Appraisal and Evaluation

A formal appraisal of the performance of each regular staff member is conducted each year by his or her supervisor. This appraisal process includes a written description of the responsibilities of the position, an evaluation of the incumbents's performance during the year, and a meeting between supervisor and subordinate to discuss the written observations. This process is intended to supplement regular discussions relative to job performance or responsibilities that take place throughout the year.

The result of the appraisal process are submitted to the Human Resources Department on the Employee Performance Appraisal Form.

Normally a formal appraisal will be administered for each member once a year for a period covering one year. The period ending should be on or about March 15th. Completed appraisal forms should be submitted to the Director of Personnel Services within two weeks after the end of the appraisal period.

All regular and regular part-time members who have completed at least six months of employment must be included in the performance communication process.

Individuals who supervise a regular staff member for at least three months prior to the end of the evaluation period are required to complete the Employee Performance Appraisal.

Prior to transferring to another position or leaving the college, supervisors must review the last appraisals they completed for their staff. New appraisals must be submitted on those employees where performance has changed.
