The Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG) program through the State of New Jersey provides free tuition and approved educational fees for qualifying students with an annual adjusted gross income (AGI) between $0 and $65,000.
New Jersey residents with AGIs between $65,001 and $80,000 pay reduced tuition costs after up to 50% of the maximum CCOG award available at their community college is applied. New Jersey residents with AGIs between $80,001 and $100,000 will pay reduced tuition costs after up to one-third of the maximum CCOG award available at their community college is applied.
Students attending Atlantic Cape who have completed their financial aid application prior to the deadline will be automatically considered for eligibility for this last-dollar state grant funding. There is no separate application. If your adjusted gross income (AGI) is under $100,000, you have enrolled in classes and have applied for federal and state aid– then you may be eligible for this grant.
Eligibility restrictions apply. Award amounts determined by NJ Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA). Students with a negative AGI are not eligible to receive this grant.

If you are a returning student, you currently must meet minimum standards for academic performance and academic progress. You also cannot have a prior college degree. This grant shall cover up to the combined costs of tuition and approved educational fees for up to 18 credit hours per semester. The maximum award for each college shall be capped at an amount no more than 2% greater than the equivalent amounts of tuition and fees the institution charged in academic year 2023-2024. Approved educational fees are not to exceed approved award amount declared be HESAA. The Community College Opportunity Grant is a statewide initiative for any interested student that meets the eligibility requirements and goes through the application process. Additional restrictions apply to out of county students. If you are planning to study at the Academy of Culinary Arts or in our drone program, and your county of residence does not offer that program, you may still be eligible.
