About the Work-Study Program

workstudy.pngWant to earn money while gaining experience? The Federal Work-Study program lets you work part-time while you’re enrolled at Atlantic Cape. Jobs are flexible, often right on campus, and designed to fit around your class schedule.

Who Can Get Work-Study?

If you qualify for financial aid and indicate interest on your FAFSA, you may be eligible. Awards are based on financial need, and funds are limited - so apply early!

What Kind of Jobs Are Available?

You might work in an academic department, student services, the library, or even off-campus at a nonprofit organization. This award allows you to work either on-campus or in designated off-campus sites. The hourly wage is based on New Jersey minimum wage. You’ll gain valuable experience and build connections while earning money to help cover your expenses. Where possible, Atlantic Cape places students in jobs that relate to their major course of study, interest and skills.

How Do I Apply?

  1. Submit the FAFSA and indicate that you’re interested in Work-Study.

  2. If you’re eligible, you’ll see Work-Study listed in your financial aid package in Self Service (within the Atlantic Cape Connect portal).

  3. If interested, see the Financial Aid Office to get a work-study eligibility slip. If eligible you will then be sent to Advising to complete an application for employment. Return your completed application, along with any necessary documentation in order to process your application.

  4. You’ll be contacted with next steps, including how to apply for available jobs.

Important Information

  • Once you complete the FAFSA and register for at least 6 credits, the Financial Aid Office can determine your eligibility for Work Study.

  • If you're eligible, you'll pick up a Work-Study Eligibility Slip from Financial Aid and complete an application with Advising (MC). Return your application and documents to move forward.

  • The Work-Study Coordinator will contact you about job openings. You can work up to 18 hours a week (up to 26 during breaks with approval) but not during finals unless approved by your supervisor.

  • Work Study is a real job—professionalism is expected. Employment is not guaranteed and can end at any time. You’ll submit hours through Self Service, and pay is biweekly by direct deposit.

The work-study program is based on federal appropriations. Students may be required to stop working at anytime if federal allocations are reached.
