Formerly Known As ESL

Academic English Language Placement Test

Students whose native language is not English will be required to take the Academic English Language Placement Test. The test consists of a Use of English and Listening section. Students are also required to write an essay.

Exemptions include a TOEFL total score of at least 75 iBT, IELTS overall band score of 6, Duolingo English test score of 110, or SAT Evidenced-Based Reading/Writing score of 450.

Test scores are valid for one year. Students who are absent from the college for a period of more than 12 months must retake the Academic English Language Placement Test to reevaluate students' skills. For exceptional circumstances, students may inquire about retesting through the Testing Office.
