Dear Atlantic Cape Community:
First and foremost, I hope you and your families are healthy and safe! Additionally, I want to personally thank faculty, staff and students for your patience, flexibility and understanding as we continue to support each other during this most difficult time. Our goal is to continue to provide the highest quality education and support services to our students, and we are prepared to do so.
The Spring semester resumes on March 30. All courses will be delivered online through Blackboard, and due to the uncertainty of this situation, we will continue to provide instruction online through the remainder of the semester.
We continue to work closely with Atlantic and Cape May County governments as well as the State government to help mitigate the global Coronavirus pandemic and offer assistance as needed. For example, we have donated much needed medical supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE) from our Nursing lab to our AtlantiCare partner as they prepare to care for others in need. Also, food from our Atlantic City Campus Food Pantry was donated to the Atlantic City Housing Authority and Atlantic City Rescue Mission.
We have taken the necessary steps to clean and disinfect all of our buildings located at all three campuses and we will be ready to return when we are able. While we do not have any known cases within our College community, our goal is to continue to keep our students and employees informed as information is shared with us, and keep everyone safe by following the guidance outlined in the Governor’s Executive Orders and through the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education (OSHE).
Now more than ever I want to reiterate the need to stay at home and exercise social distancing. As you know, recently Governor Murphy issued an Executive Order that all non-essential retail businesses are closed. However, a subset of businesses deemed as “essential” will be allowed to continue essential functions. Full details regarding the restrictions and exemptions can be found at covid19.nj.gov.
What does this mean for the College? While our buildings are closed, Atlantic Cape is OPEN remotely and we are committed to continue to provide education and support services to our students as seamlessly as possible. We remain committed to provide assistance by phone, email, and Chatbot. We will continue to post updates on www.atlantic.edu/coronavirus.
Our thoughts are with our students, faculty and staff and their families at this time.
Together we are stronger as a community when we all work together!
As this global health crisis impacts our community at large, I ask that you take care of one another, support each other and be safe!
Continue to check for updates on the New Jersey’s website set up by Governor Murphy: covid19.nj.gov. Also, please check Atlantic Cape’s website: www.atlantic.edu/coronavirus for College updates.
Sincerely,
Dr. Barbara Gaba
President
